Crowns & Bridges
We Customize High-Quality Restorations
We offer expert dental restorations that look natural, return your mouth to excellent health, and give you a reason to smile! If decay or disease has damaged your teeth, you just can't feel your best. Knowing your smile isn’t healthy is bad enough, but you may also deal with speech problems and discomfort when eating.
Our goal at Smile Practice Family Dentistry is to protect your oral health, but we are here for you if something goes wrong. Our beautiful, custom crowns and bridges are both restorations that look natural and function beautifully.
What Dental Crowns Do
If your tooth is damaged, we can repair it with a filling. But if too much of the tooth has been compromised, Dr. Yanela Gonzalez will recommend a dental crown to strengthen and protect the tooth from further damage.
A dental crown is a perfect solution for a weakened tooth because it surrounds and protects the tooth like a little helmet. Our goal is to try to retain as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, and dental crowns help us do that. Rather than removing a damaged tooth, we can protect it with a crown to restore function and appearance while protecting your oral health.
We Choose High-Quality, Durable Materials
Our crowns are made using the highest quality materials that are designed to last. Depending on your needs, we can choose from all-porcelain, zirconia, and E-max. Many patients prefer the appearance of porcelain crowns, but Dr. Gonzalez can also talk to you about the option of porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns.
During the first step in the process, we prepare your tooth to receive the crown by altering its shape. Then we take impressions and create a model that will be used to design your new crown. We will customize a temporary crown for you, then send the model and any other information to our trusted dental lab.
In about two weeks, you will return to our office so we can make adjustments to the crown to ensure it fits comfortably. Finally, Dr. Gonzalez polishes and crown and cements it onto your natural tooth. With diligent oral hygiene and proper care, a crown can last up to 15 years.
Dental Bridges Replace Missing Teeth
Another restoration we use frequently is a fixed dental bridge. A fixed bridge is a dental prosthetic used to fill the space left by a missing tooth. It consists of an artificial tooth (pontic) suspended between two dental crowns that we attach to adjacent teeth for support.
The same high-quality materials we use to design crowns are also used to create durable, natural-looking dental bridges. When creating a dental bridge, we follow the same procedure we use for crowns – an impression is taken, then a model is prepared and sent to our lab where your new bridge is fabricated. When the bridge is ready, you will return to our office for adjustment and placement of your bridge.
